In 2021, he released the single “Água-Viva” with Tulipa Ruiz and Fabio Sá. He is also a musical director (nominated for the 2019 Shell Award for Best Music) for “Mãe Coragem”, with Bete Coelho and directed by Daniela Thomas; “Medeia” (2021), “Gaivota” (2022), “Ana Lívia” (2023), and “Petra” (2024/25), all with CIA BR116, by Bete, as well as “A Anfitriã”, by Jackeline Stefanski Bernardes; “Codinome Madame”, by Nossa Companhia; and “A Morta”, by Oswald de Andrade, directed by Cacá Toledo.
“Embarcação” is the name of Felipe Antunes’ new album, derived from the song of the same name — a collaboration between Felipe and the Minas Gerais-born, São Paulo-based artist and thinker Salloma Salomão (who also takes part in the track). The work alludes to a historic struggle of working-class people who are undervalued in society’s financial accounts. The songs move through Soul, Samba, Blues, Rock, and hints of Folk or rural traditions.
